Tidying up the lane - update

2011_repaired_fence_in_laneThe petition to smarten up and deal with the dog mess on the lane between Bagshot Infant School and Connaught Junior School has closed with over 100 signatures in addition to many signatures on the paper petition.  We are now waiting to hear back from Surrey Heath Borough Council so that together we can improve this important link between the schools and between Connaught Park and the centre of Bagshot.

More good news is that the section of broken fencing half way down the lane has been repaired by Thames Water thanks to some good work on the phone by Ruth Hutchinson.

BBC Doomsday Reloaded Project

2011_bbc_doomsday_reloadedIn 1989 the BBC ran a project to mark the 900th anniversary of the Doomsday book.  The project aimed to capture a snapshot of life in the UK and now that the project has been put online there's a opportunity to update the record with information and pictures from life today.  The project to update this modern Doomsday book is running until Oct 2011.

You can take a look at the "D-Block" for Bagshot at http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/domesday/dblock/GB-488000-162000.

Thanks to Richard Polhill for spotting this news.

Village Plan Questionnaire Results

The Bagshot Village Plan Steering Group has finished the initial data analysis of the Bagshot Village Plan questionnaire.  All the data entry and analysis has been done by volunteers and has involved entering approximately 100,000 data points, so the process has taken a little longer than anyone would have liked! We have decided to publish the “raw data” in advance of issuing the Village Plan itself. We think, even in this raw form, that you will find the results interesting and we would welcome any comments or suggestions for inclusion in the final draft.

Some sections of our community are not represented well by the questionnaire and so other approaches are being used to include their views.

It’s now down to working groups to interpret the data and work on plans for each of the areas. Some groups have already started and already quite a lot of things have been achieved. If you’d like to get involved, please contact Paul Hutchinson on (01276) 48 99 91 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The next meeting of those wishing to help with working groups will be in the function room at the Three Mariners Pub on August 9th at 8pm so if you have any projects you want to start or help with, please come along.
