Shabby Paws - another new business in Bagshot

2010_shabbypaws_openingThere was more good news in Bagshot as Shabby Paws opened it's doors for business on 18th Sept 2010. The pet boutique and grooming parlour was opened by Surrey Heath's Mayor John May and it's owner Jo Watts.

Bagshotvillage.com asked Jo to tell us a little bit about herself, her links to Bagshot and the new business.

"Bagshot has always been a place I would call home, not my physical home but home to my grandparents Frances and Norman Weale. No matter how many times myself and my family moved I knew that my grandparents and their house were always here. So I guess I feel I've always been part Bagshot villager - its a place I feel at home and safe.

That's one reason why I have always wanted to own my own pet shop and grooming parlour in the Village. Since opening Shabby Paws just over a week ago people have been coming in to introduce themselves and wishing me luck. that includes the local business owners, especially Glyn at the Village Cafe who was the first person I seriously spoke to about opening a pet shop in the village. Also the "boys" from Rubber Air at the back of the shop have often been on call to help me out.

Prior to opening Shabby Paws I owned and ran PAWtesbery PET's - a dog walking and small pet boarding service - from my home for the past 5 years. PAWtesbery PET’s is still operating, but the dog walking is being taken over by two of my friends Eloise and Jai. Eloise also works in the shop when she’s not walking; she is setting up a Reiki, Indian Head massage and Ear Hopi candling service above Shabby Paws. This is done on humans and their pets. You can call Eloise for more information about these services 07598 685130.

Jai who is my other dog walker is training to become a dog behaviourist and we are both about to do a canine first aid course. Jai and I met at Merrist Wood College where we both studied Animal Management and Behaviour. Chris who is due to join Shabby Paws next week as a groomer has been grooming for about 38 years and has achieved the highest level of grooming, so she is now able to teach people to groom. She has owned and run her own grooming parlour and was very successful but due to moving she had to sell up. We are all very excited about Chris joining Shabby Paws. So please pop in for a no obligation grooming quote.

Please come and say hello and have a look around, oh and all pets are welcome."
