Work Experience Works

2011_experience_worksA new website started in Bagshot wants to help you if you are you a local business that would like to get free labour. The proposition may seem to be on a par with someone asking if you would like some free money, but read on, it all makes sense!

ExperienceWorks.co.uk focuses on the prospect of matching those looking for work experience with those willing to offer it – in return for some free help.

The biggest challenge many jobseekers have is the simple fact that they don’t have the relevant and requisite work experience to get a role in the fiendishly competitive job market. Similarly, and another feature of any recession, is the situation where businesses cannot grow, expand and develop new projects simply because without great cash flow they are unable to take on new staff.

This simple solution promises to solve all of that.

ExperienceWorks.co.uk looks pretty similar to a standard job website, but it has one big difference, none of the jobs advertised actually pay any salaries, they simply promise something important, i.e. experience, to put on a job seekers CV instead. The website’s founder hopes that many potential employers will be happy to contribute towards travel costs and lunches, indeed the government is extremely positive towards jobseekers undertaking this kind of activity.

If an employer can’t offer it job seekers can actually get government funding for travel expenses and even childcare – should a job seeker undertake a period of time carrying out work experience. Its early days but this could be the way that people get back into the workplace in the near future.

The website’s founder is already in discussions with a number of businesses across Surrey. These range from a small operation needing to take on 2 marketing staff, a large company who wants a network administrator within their information technology department and a website design company in Camberley who need an individual for a short term project. On this last one the company have said that the right candidate will secure a fantastic long-term role within the company. This is how the whole thing works of course!
