2010 Playground Spring Clean Success
Thursday, 22 April 2010 08:50
Two days of fun, laughter and hard work by teams from our village have given the Whitmoor Road playground (next to Lilliput/Curly Park Rangers) a makeover. Running over 16th and 17th April, the Big Spring Clean was masterminded by Sandra Polhill who is leading a team aiming to improve our playgrounds in Bagshot. The work was done in partnership with Park Ranger Steve Harris from Surrey Heath Borough Council who own the playground. (Some of Friday's team are in the photo)
The teams cleaned, swept, scraped, cut and painted to give the playground its new look and the effort was a real community one with help from individual and local businesses including AJH Painters & Decorators, Bagshot Post Office, Bagshot Sure Start Centre, Burley Landscapes, Co-operative Store, Creative Presentations, Curley Park Rangers FC, JC Fabrications, Nigel Jefferies Landscapes, Lilliput Children's Centre, Shelly Lindsell (Pampered Chef), Surrey Heath Borough Council, The Village Cafe, Tulip Publications, Windlesham Parish Council.
A huge well done and thank you to everyone involved.

Input about young people from 2008 Village Day
Friday, 16 October 2009 00:00
Approx 300 people came to the exhibition at the Village Day in May 2008. Here are the ideas and issues that were raised with respect to youth (11-18) and children (0-11)
Summary
Here are the key themes that emerged:
- Play areas for all young children to teenagers
- School Road park
- Other areas
- Places for young people to hang-out
- Evening activites for young people
- Better information about what’s available
- UPDATE: WVYP has published a guide to the Windle Valley for young people www.wvyp.org.uk/clubs.html.
- When is the Children’s Centre opening?
- UPDATE: This opened in 2008 and useage is growing quickly www.bagshotchildrenscentre.co.uk.
Input (as written)
- More playing field/equipment for children (similar to Berkshire)
- Space next to Bagshot Infants to have a lot more play equipment. The one at Sunningdale is perfect
- Second this comment – Bagshot play facilities totally inadequate for young children.
- More and better play facilities for young children
- Affordable housing for fathers looking after young children after separation
- Need more for children to do. Play equipment for older children. Places for children to go/hang out.
- Cinema
- Theme park
- Need more evening activities for 13yrs and older.
- Better play facilities with more available for young children and teenagers
- Children’s play area more central in village.
- Manage the play areas – a climbing frame (School field) that cannot be used for 6 months of the year because of the water-logged base is a joke.
- All age Village Activities
- Need easily available information on community activities and societies
- Make playing equipment better in park by Bagshot School
- We are 3rd class citizens in Surrey Heath as regards decent play areas.
- “Finishing” School Road play area and fencing off area for children
- Plus better playground
- Playground equipment in “open spaces” eg. Yaverland Drive
- Decent playground equipment like Sunningdale (x4)
- Keep more green areas for playgrounds forkids with stuff for older kids as well.
- Could we have a village hall for use by all sections of the community with good access and parking and open space outside.
- Children’s Centre – when?
